Whether you're a stand-up, storyteller, or performer with something to say, this weekend is your launchpad to crafting a powerful solo show.

At The LaughtHER Collective, we believe in amplifying bold, underrepresented voices and making comedy accessible, healing, and empowering—and this intensive is designed to help you take up space with confidence. 

Over two transformative days, you’ll:
Discover your unique comedic and narrative voice
Workshop material in a supportive, feedback-driven space
Learn expert techniques for structure, storytelling & performance
Leave with a blueprint for your own solo show

No gatekeeping. No second-guessing. Just YOU, your story, and a room full of creatives cheering you on.

This workshop will be held at the Peter Herdic Inn in Williamsport, PA; class fee includes lodging and meals (please advise as to restrictions). Check-in will be Friday, June 13th; check out will be Monday, June 16th. Please email any questions to stnellsresidency@gmail.com

Bios:


Christi Somers: 

Christi Somers (formerly Chiello) is a comedian, educator, and advocate whose career spans television, film, and groundbreaking comedy education. She made her TV debut roasting Jimmy Carr on Comedy Central's Roast Battle and has been featured on Comedy Central Stand-Up Featuring, This Joka with Will Smith, TruTV's Rachel Dratch's Late Night Snack, Kevin Hart's LOL Network, Chris Gethard Presents, and IFC's Comedy Crib. Named a New Face of Comedy at the Just For Laughs Festival, Christi's acclaimed one-woman show It’s Christi, Bitch! at Joe's Pub was praised in The New York Times and called a “must-see comedy event” by Time Out New York.

An accomplished voice actor, Christi’s voices can be heard on PBS's Pinkalicious & Peterrific and Adult Swim's Teenage Euthanasia. She made her film debut in Molli and Max in the Future (SXSW premiere), and her roast battle work is enshrined in the National Comedy Center Museum. She recently finished presentations of a brand-new musical at Manhattan Theatre Club, further expanding her creative footprint.

As co-founder of The LaughtHER Collective, Christi is redefining comedy education by empowering womxn+ and underrepresented voices through innovative workshops, exclusive comedic blueprints, and dynamic community building. A passionate mental health advocate, she collaborates with Chris Gethard and Wellness Together for Laughing Together’s improv-based workshops that promote social-emotional learning, and she works with nonprofits like Stand Up! Girls and the Center for Creative Education, bringing comedy to underserved youth.

A frequent presenter at the Student Mental Wellness Conference, Christi highlights the healing power of humor and play. Currently, she’s opening for Nicole Byer on her national theater tour, continuing to make audiences laugh while inspiring the next generation of comedians.



Hope D: 

Hope is a comedian and comedy educator based right outside of Philly. Since 2022, Hope has helped students land coveted jobs on Showtime, Netflix, Saturday Night Live and various humor publications.  Hope has been featured in: Time Out New York, WNYC and Broadway World for her thoughtful moderation of the New York Comedy Festival’s ‘Women in Comedy’ panel at The Stand.

Hope obtained their Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from Manhattan College in 2019. They have extensive experience in higher education, career counseling and non profit sectors. Along with a B.A. in Psychology, minors in Black Studies & Disaster Studies at SUNY New Paltz, Hope was awarded the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence 2011.

Hope has comprehensive comedy training from the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater and The People’s Improv Theatre where they studied stand up, improvisation, and sketch comedy both performance and writing.

Hope went on to be selected for the NY Underground Comedy Festival’s Diversity Showcase and has performed on dozens of stages in NYC and the greater New England area.

Hope is proud to be working with Laughing Together, bridging humor with mental health!
